Responsibilities

Maintain ELAP‑accredited Bioassay Laboratory facilities, including ordering, tracking, and organizing laboratory chemicals and supplies
Set up, perform, and monitor weekly NPDES‑required fish bioassay tests following EPA procedures, including reference toxicant tests
Maintain fish cultures used for bioassay testing
Conduct NPDES‑required sampling of treated and untreated industrial wastewater and stormwater per EPA and permit‑defined procedures
Prepare and coordinate shipment or pickup of samples by external commercial laboratories
Perform on‑site chemical monitoring and analysis in accordance with Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP) requirements
Conduct regulatory compliance monitoring including Microtox, DOUR, dissolved oxygen, pH, conductivity, ammonia, chlorine, alkalinity, and hardness analyses
Accurately document and communicate analytical results, field observations, and trends in a timely manner
Create and maintain spreadsheets to track chemical inventory, chain‑of‑custody forms, corrective actions, and laboratory data
Collect field samples of industrial waste, wastewater, tank products, or process gases in all weather conditions
Conduct field audits supporting environmental waste, water, and air compliance programs
Comply with all facility health, safety, and environmental protocols

Required

Ability to work independently in an industrial setting
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience collecting environmental samples for chemical analysis
Possession of a TWIC card and completion of OSCA RSO Refinery Safety Training
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel

Preferred

BSc Degree in Natural Sciences (e.g., aquatic toxicology) or related field preferred
Environmental laboratory or industrial facility experience preferred; relevant education/experience combinations considered
