Responsibilities

Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Lead or assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement analysis
Analyze financial data and provide insights into financial performance, including variance analysis, trend analysis, and forecasting
Develop and maintain internal financial controls to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data and compliance with regulations
Coordinate and manage financial audits, both internal and external, and ensure timely responses to audit requests and findings
Reconcile complex accounts and resolve discrepancies, ensuring that all accounts are accurate and up to date
Manage and maintain fixed asset records, including depreciation schedules and asset tracking
Assist in tax compliance, including preparing and filing tax returns, reconciling tax accounts, and providing support for tax audits
Participate in the budgeting and forecasting processes, collaborating with other departments to ensure accurate financial planning
Utilize financial software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to record, process, and analyze financial transactions
Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies in accounting procedures and workflows
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and management, to provide financial guidance and support for business decisions
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and standards, and assist in updating policies as needed
Train and mentor junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support for their professional development
Contribute to department and organization special projects as assigned

Required

A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required
Several years of progressive experience in accounting, including experience in roles of increasing responsibility
Experience as a Staff Accountant or similar position required
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret financial data and provide valuable insights
Proficiency in accounting software, financial modeling, and spreadsheet tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey financial information to non-financial stakeholders and collaborate across departments
Exceptional attention to detail to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records
Effective leadership skills to manage and mentor junior accounting staff
High ethical standards and integrity when handling financial transactions and sensitive data
Ability to adapt to changing financial regulations and industry trends

Preferred

A master's degree or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification preferred
Familiarity with ERP systems preferred
