Assistant Professor - English and Core Fellow

They are seeking an Assistant Professor of English who will serve as a Core Fellow, teaching literature and writing while contributing to the Core Curriculum from a philosophical perspective.

Responsibilities
Teach literature and writing in core literature surveys: ENGLC 1301 'The Classical Tradition', ENGLC 2301 'Middle Ages and Renaissance', and ENGLC 2301 'Modern World and American Expressions'
Teach LS 1301 'Foundations of Liberal Learning', introducing students to liberal education and training them in the foundational arts of grammar, logic, and rhetoric
Demonstrate a serious research agenda while maintaining a record of teaching excellence
Contribute to the undergraduate Core Curriculum as a member of the Core Fellows
Qualification
Required
Full-time Assistant Professor of English
Core Fellow in the Division of the Core and Centers for Excellence in the School of Arts and Sciences
Ability to teach literature and writing in core literature surveys: ENGLC 1301 'The Classical Tradition', ENGLC 2301 'Middle Ages and Renaissance', and ENGLC 2301 'Modern World and American Expressions'
Ability to teach LS 1301 'Foundations of Liberal Learning'
Competence to teach undergraduates in more than one discipline is highly desirable
Terminal degree in English or a related field
Record of teaching excellence
Demonstration of a serious research agenda
Submission of a complete CV
Three letters of recommendation
Official graduate transcripts
Teaching statement
Substantive reflection on dedication to the mission of Catholic higher education in light of Ex Corde Ecclesiae
Preferred
Practicing Catholics who will advance the mission of the school are preferred
