Contoural is the largest independent provider of strategic information governance consulting services, and they are seeking a part-time, temporary Legal Researcher to support project-based legal and regulatory research efforts focused on records retention and recordkeeping requirements. The role involves reviewing statutes and regulations, validating legal citations, and producing applicable citations for client deliverables.

Responsibilities

Review statutes, regulations, and regulatory guidance to assess applicability to client records, based on provided business, industry, and geographic context

Validate the accuracy and current status of legal citations, including identifying updates, amendments, or repeals

Confirm that cited sources are authoritative and accessible, and locate corrected sources when necessary

Consider related legal concepts, such as statutes of limitation, when relevant to records retention decisions

Review non-English regulations using translation tools and apply legal judgment to translated materials

Produce a finalized set of applicable citations for use in client deliverables
