Graduate Assistant for USG eCampus Data Science (Beg Summer 2026)

The University of West Georgia (UWG) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Graduate Assistant to join the eCampus Data Science team. This role is ideal for a graduate student interested in data science or analytics, where they will assist in data preparation and analysis while learning new skills in R, SQL, and Tableau.

Responsibilities

Assist in cleaning, transforming, and preparing large datasets for analysis
Assist in the analysis and interpretation of data using statistical techniques
Collaborates with team members on various data science projects
Prepares reports and visualizations to communicate findings
Participate in professional development opportunities to learn skills in R, SQL, Tableau, data visualization, etc
Attends team meetings and meetings with stakeholders to deliver results

Required

Be fully admitted to a graduate degree program at UWG. Please note: Students admitted provisionally are not eligible for assistantship positions
Hold a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Be enrolled full-time in a UWG graduate program during the assistantship period
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in all previous and current graduate coursework
Meet eligibility requirements for employment in the United States
Completion of at least one course in statistics displaying knowledge of hypothesis testing (t-tests, ANOVA, regression)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Self-regulated and self-directed learner

Preferred

Currently enrolled in a graduate program related to data analytics, social sciences, education, or a related field
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and visualization
Experience with R for statistical computing and graphics
Knowledge of SQL for database management and queries
Familiarity with Tableau for creating interactive data visualizations
