Supply Chain Buyer/Planner SR- Columbus, WI

The Senior Buyer/Planner is responsible for overseeing complex purchasing activities and driving strategic procurement initiatives, managing the acquisition of parts and services while enhancing supply chain performance.

Responsibilities
Create and maintain purchase orders and/or blanket orders to obtain materials that meet production and/or customer order requirements including maintenance of PO acknowledgements and past due PO’s to meet required KPI’s
Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to purchasing activities including order variances, delivery delays, invoicing discrepancies, and quality issues
Manage and develop supplier relationships to resolve quality and delivery issues, improve performance, and build long-term partnerships
Working cross-functionally to expedite PO’s based on shortage reports and/or expedite requests to meet delivery requirements for customer orders or projects. Attend operations team meetings as appropriate
Monitor and update system inventory planning parameters including, but not limited to, safety stocks/reorder points, lead-times, order quantities/multiples, and forecasts to maintain customer OTD while minimizing working capital
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to drive improvements to KPI’s such as cost, quality, delivery, and working capital. Demonstrated ability to lead and implement complex projects and solutions
Working in conjunction with the Category Management team, establish strategies and tactics to assure continuous reliable supply of goods and services. This may include leading resourcing projects, outsourcing projects, VA/VE, NPD launches, executing cost savings, facilitating supplier consolidation, and/or leading supplier transitions/implementations
Lead problem-solving and troubleshooting of system and process issues impacting the site, region and/or globe. Works cross-functionally to define issues as well as to identify and implement solutions
Lead the creation of purchasing standards aligned to regional and/or global procurement strategies. Ensure supplier and purchasing function adoption and adherence to new standard practices
Serve as a subject matter expert in procurement systems and processes; provide training and mentorship to Buyer/Planner I and II roles

Qualification
Required
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions
Advanced negotiation skills with experience in contract development and management
Demonstrated performance in working within cross-functional teams, with requisite drive and energy to ensure that results are successfully delivered
Must have experience working with Microsoft programs and good working knowledge of ERP systems
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
Knowledge of Material Requirements Planning, Kanban, Vendor Managed Inventory, and Purchasing
Must be a self-starter and self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Ability to respond to common inquiries from internal customers or members of the business community and be a strong problem solver
Ability to influence others through reasoning and communication (written and oral)
Ability to execute multiple tasks to deadlines
Proven leadership and mentoring capabilities
Experience with strategic sourcing tools and techniques
Preferred Four-year Bachelor Degree in Business, Engineering, or Supply Chain Management
10+ years of purchasing or supply chain management experience in a manufacturing environment
Substantial experience with using and managing ERP systems is required
Prior experience in multiple manufacturing environments including custom manufacturing, engineer-to-order (ETO), made-to-order (MTO) and/or Make-to Stock (MTS) environments are essential
Proficient with project management tools and methods to manage activities across supply chain and other functions
Preferred
MBA, CPM, CPIM, CSCP and / or PMP certification are a plus
Strong hands-on experience with multiple modules of Oracle, SAP, or similar platforms is preferred
Familiarity reading prints and interpreting engineering data in a supply context will be valuable
Working knowledge of manufacturing processes like machining, metal cutting, hydraulics, plastic injection molding, metal fabrication, electronics and assembly is a plus
