Start in 2026 SummerWestinghouse Electric Co is committed to providing clean energy solutions and is looking for a Component Design Intern for the summer of 2026. The intern will provide technical support in the design and analysis of reactor components while working closely with component leads and other internal departments.

Responsibilities
Perform analytical calculations and evaluations of reactor components using a variety of engineering tools and methods. Develop documentation related to these calculations and analyses
Develop design documentation for safety and non-safety related hardware; this includes design specifications, test specifications and compliance matrices
Skills using Software Packages such as Mathcad, Matlab, ANSYS or equivalent and
Work with other internal departments on similar engineering level to obtain information necessary to perform work assignments
Plan and schedule work to meet assignment requirements
Evaluate standards, techniques, procedures and criteria for development of engineering design documents including calculations and specifications
Qualification
Required
Pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required
Minimum GPA of 3.0
Complete sophomore year of college
