Responsibilities
Work with product team and other engineering teams to define new features for customers
Design features and write code to build and operate them
Help operate the service, troubleshoot problems, and support customers
Provide technical and project leadership to other software engineers on the team
Take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures
Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications
Perform professional software development tasks associated with developing, designing and debugging software applications or operating systems
Work closely with software engineers from various cloud service teams to build secure services and infrastructure that are fundamentally sound and efficient
Influence the design of the full system architecture
Familiarity with all levels of the software, hardware, and network stack
Qualification
Required
6 - 10+ years experience delivering and operating large cloud scale, highly available distributed systems
Strong knowledge of C, C++ or Java, and experience with scripting languages such as Python
Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP) and standard network architectures
Strong knowledge of databases, NoSQL, storage and distributed persistence technologies
Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area
Preferred
Virtualization experience would be a huge plus

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
