Systems Engineer—AI/ML
WOOD Federal Solutions is seeking an AI/ML Systems Engineer to join their mission engineering team in Linthicum, Maryland. The role involves designing and delivering NLP/ML solutions and robust data pipelines to extract and visualize insights from defense artifacts, collaborating with various stakeholders to translate high-level architectures into actionable requirements.

Responsibilities
Engineer solutions across systems‑of‑systems, collaborating with government and technical stakeholders to translate CONOPS and high‑level architectures into actionable requirements and designs
Build document parsing and data processing pipelines for unstructured/semi‑structured sources using tools such as Apache Tika and PDFMiner
Develop and evaluate NLP/ML models (TensorFlow or PyTorch) in Python/R, delivering qualitative and quantitative analytics with clear data visualizations
Create and maintain technical documentation (architecture/design docs, interface controls), and support integration & test planning
Communicate findings and trade‑offs to program personnel, government overseers, and senior executives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required and seven (7) years as a SE in program and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required for Systems Engineer Level 1
Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required and fourteen (14) years as a SE in program and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required for Systems Engineer Level 2
Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required and twenty (20) years as a SE in program and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required for Systems Engineer Level 3
Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree
Proficiency in Python and/or R; hands‑on with TensorFlow or PyTorch
Experience using Apache Tika and PDFMiner for unstructured/semi‑structured sources
Background in requirements analysis, architecture/design, interface definition, and verification methods in a complex SoS context
Strength in qualitative/quantitative analytics and communicating results through dashboards/visuals
This position requires all candidates to be U.S. Citizens and possess an active TS/SCI Security Clearance with a Polygraph
