Electrical Specialist, Lithium Refinery

Tesla’s Lithium Refinery is looking for a highly motivated individual to be the Electrical Specialist for a novel battery chemical plant near Corpus Christi, TX. In this role, you will provide expert electrical support, develop and implement safe work practices, and collaborate with various teams to enhance equipment lifecycle management.

Responsibilities

Provide expert level electrical support for a variety of equipment across the site, such as motors, breakers, relays, generators, substations, buses, starters, transformers, VFDs and other industrial equipment >480V
Develop, implement, and maintain electrical safe work practices that comply with OSHA, NEC, IETA, and other applicable industry standards
Support design reviews as required (i.e., HAZOP, P&ID reviews, 3-D model reviews, etc.) ensuring that facility modifications are designed and constructed with suitable maintainability and reliability premises
Work with the Reliability and Process Design teams to ensure that an appropriate stock of spare parts is provisioned, and management systems are populated with required equipment data
Develop equipment specific expertise through a strong collaboration with vendors and third-party suppliers, and serve as the subject matter expert for the Manufacturing Organization and leverage expertise to develop and deliver equipment specific training as needed for Operations and Maintenance personnel
Assist in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance procedures, work practices, operator rounds, & equipment strategies to enable efficient life-cycle management of plant assets post-startup
Provide break-in technical oversight as needed to resolve electrical equipment issues and support base maintenance, turnaround, and capital planning as subject matter expert

Required

10+ years in an industrial manufacturing environment, with experience supporting Operations and Maintenance organizations
Experience maintaining, repairing, and operating medium voltage equipment, including troubleshooting and working on medium voltage relays
Well versed in the National Electrical Code and the International Electrical Testing Association
Experience leading teams of Electricians, inclusive of training and professional development
Expert acumen in conducting RCFAs and developing/implementing effective solutions
Proven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, occasionally requiring extended hours
Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
Ability to perform physically demanding work for extend periods of time, up to 12 hours a day
Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
Frequently and repetitively, lift, push and carry up to 35 lbs., including the ability to carry 20 lbs. up and down stairs
Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding or other high structures
Stoop, lay, bend, squat, kneel, crouch, twist, and crawl for extended periods of time, including up to 12 hours
Wearing PPE, included but not limited to: safety glasses, safety shoes, hardhat, arc flash gear, and respiratory protection
