Scientist I - Glukhov Lab

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is a leading public research institution committed to biomedical research and education. The Scientist I position in Dr. Glukhov's lab focuses on conducting laboratory-based experiments and supporting cardiovascular research projects.

Responsibilities

Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, and disseminates information to appropriate entities
Writes or assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding
Collects and analyzes research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures under general supervision and limited responsibility
Attends and assists with the facilitation of scholarly events and presentations in support of continued professional development and the dissemination of research information
Assists with the identification of research problems and the development of research methodologies and procedures
Serves as a main point of contact and liaison with internal and external stakeholders providing information and representing the interests of a specialized research area

Required

Demonstrated expertise in cardiac electrophysiology, cardiac mechanics, and cell biophysics
Experience conducting research involving animal models
Experience working with isolated cardiac preparations, including Langendorff-perfused hearts and isolated atrial and sinoatrial node preparations from mouse and rat models
Experience with electrophysiological measurement techniques, such as electrocardiography (ECG), optical mapping, and related electrical recording method
Knowledge of cardiac pharmacology and neurohormonal regulation of heart function
Ph.D. in Biophysics, or closely related discipline, is required by the start date of the position

Preferred

Experience in mechanobiology and mechanical regulation of cardiac function
Experience with basic molecular biology techniques
Experience working with isolated single cardiac muscle cells
Experience using fluorescent microscopy and related imaging techniques
