Start in 2026 SummerBenton PUD is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineering (Power) student to join their Engineering team as a Summer 2026 Intern. This internship offers a valuable opportunity for a junior-level student to gain hands-on experience in the electric utility industry while performing special projects involving power system analysis, equipment and technical research, data analytics, and applied technology.

Perform special projects involving power system analysis, equipment and technical research, data analytics and applied technology
Be a resource to a team of electrical engineers needing project and planning study support for high priority efforts
Qualification
Required
Highly motivated with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly assimilate into a team
Good listening and questioning skills and the ability to establish project objectives and priorities
Self-starter with strong project and task management discipline and skills
Desire and ability to quickly learn new software systems through direct instruction and independent study
Strong aptitude for researching and applying new equipment and technology
Strong core competency in electrical engineering fundamentals
Completion of third year/Junior year of studies towards a BA/BS in Electrical Engineering, with an emphasis in Power and completion of coursework on the fundamental theory and application of three-phase transformers, motors and generators before starting the internship
Microsoft Office, including intermediate Excel and Word skills
Preferred
Experience with load-flow and short-circuit analysis for three-phase power systems and protective device coordination studies
