Responsibilities

Oversee activities with U.S. Customs Brokers and freight forwarders, including verification of Import documents, tracking Assist program, updating product code database, and expediting clearance of shipments that have been delayed by U.S. Customs
Responsible for ensuring that all export orders are screened and cleared through compliance. Run denied parties screening for all customers and suppliers as needed
Responsible for ensuring that export documentation and all documents are following U.S. regulations and meeting the end-destination country’s requirements
Corresponds with domestic and foreign subsidiaries to ensure they understand U.S. laws and are not exporting or re-exporting products or technology to “denied” or restricted parties without the proper licensing or authorizations
Develop, own, and implement compliance procedures and work instructions in all areas of the business
Maintain Red Flags distributors, third party, agent program to ensure renewal of compliance agreements (if applicable)
Attend daily Sales meetings to stay informed about business opportunities and communicate license/export control considerations for such opportunities to Sales proactively
Determine appropriate Jurisdiction, review of Harmonized Tariff, ECCN, ITAR, review of Country-of-Origin determination, and maintain justification record. Update the ERP system with accurate data
Drive weekly classification meetings with engineering support
Assist in drafting export license applications and letter of explanation via SNAP-R and DECCS and manage export license applications, renewals, and administration
Assist in setting up and coordinating STFP to customers and vendors for export-controlled technology
Provide monthly on-boarding training to new employees
Provide site level trainings to all employees based on job function and level of access
Review and approve of visitor and travel requests
Administer, track, and reconcile employee trainings in Workday or other database as required
Support Corporate trade compliance reviews, wellness checks and audits; implement corrective actions, as required
Keep abreast of changes in trade laws and regulations (including free trade agreements and other duty deferral programs) to ensure compliance. Develop, review and/or update various policies, procedures, and forms to meet current trade compliance regulations and requirements
Maintain expertise in and apply a diverse range of U.S. export and import regulations, including International Traffic in Arms (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), U.S. Customs, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Ensure awareness training across all levels within the company as needed
Partner with HR to make sure all job postings/employees meet ITAR requirements (including green card holders)
Review and approve external marketing materials
Address customer requests in a quick turnaround time for Representations and Certifications, quality surveys and product questionnaires
Perform internal audits for compliance and report findings to site leadership on a regular basis
Support data privacy and keep abreast of new privacy regulations
Support supply chain compliance: advise supply chain department to pass down supplier certifications
Review and approve of IT access requests

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university is preferred
Familiarity with ACE, HTSUS and other agency products required for compliance
Knowledge of US Custom's Entry procedures and requirements
Strategic mindset and continuous improvement driven
Knowledge of FAR/DFAR
Knowledgeable in SNAP-R and DTRADE licensing applications
Advanced body of knowledge of Export compliance regulations and license for controlled products
Experience with the International Traffic and Arms Regulations (ITAR)
Experience with the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
Experience in interpreting Denied Parties Lists (DPL)
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Teams
Good organization skills
Agile learner
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
