Responsibilities

Required

A bachelor's or higher-level degree, including or supplemented by 15 credit hours in computer science courses
A bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and at least one year of experience in information technology
A minimum of 60 college semester credit hours including at least 15 credit hours in computer science courses and one year of experience in information technology
A total of two years of experience in information technology
You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program, or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law
You must be a qualified employee of the Office of the New York State Comptroller and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an Information Technology Specialist 1 Programming

Preferred

Demonstrated experience in Object Oriented Programming OR Object-Oriented Programming coursework
Demonstrated experience with SQL is preferred
Demonstrated experience with PeopleSoft is preferred
Demonstrated experience with programming tools/IDEs (ie: Eclipse, Ultra Editor, etc.) is preferred
Demonstrated experience with database management tools (ie: Oracle SQL Developer, PL/SQL Developer, TOAD, etc.) is preferred
Proficient at communicating with technical staff and customers alike
Strong analytical thinker with excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated experience in handling high pressure situations, including the ability to work under tight deadlines, troubleshoot production issues (both during shift and on-call), and able to shift priorities with minimal guidance
Demonstrated experience in adapting to new technologies as the environment changes
Strong self-starter, with ability to pick up quickly on new technologies even when formal training and access to in-house experts are limited
