Responsibilities

Provide counsel to all areas of employment and labor law for the business

Serve as a strategic, hands-on legal partner to Progressive’s Human Resources (HR) and business operations

Qualification

Juris Doctor degreeActive law licenseEmployment law expertiseLitigation managementLegal training designLegal risk assessmentCommunication skillsIndependent workCollaboration skills

Required

Juris doctor degree or Master of Laws (LLM)

Minimum of five years of post-degree legal practice experience

Active license to practice law in at least one state; Active or Corporate license in state where working (or eligible to be)

Preferred

Experience advising leaders on employee relations matters, including performance management, investigations, workplace policies, and compliance with employment laws

Proven ability to manage employment litigation, including class and collective actions and single-plaintiff matters, represent businesses in administrative proceedings, and prepare position statements and attend mediations

Skilled in designing and delivering legal training for HR and business managers

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, simplifying complex legal issues for business collaborators

Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage priorities, assess legal risks, handle sensitive information, and balance legal and operational goals
