Research Associate I (GIS Analyst)
The University of Illinois Chicago is a leading urban public research university, and they are seeking a Research Associate I (GIS Analyst) to contribute to the Children's Environmental Health Initiative. The role involves conducting spatial analyses, creating maps and spatial databases, and supporting capacity building efforts within the initiative.

Responsibilities
Develop and present exploratory data analysis of relevant datasets
Create, edit and maintain geospatial metadata
Create maps, charts, tables, graphs and graphics using GIS and related software
Develop and maintain geospatial databases
Prepare, provide and update data sets to include spatial components
Modify and test existing scripts
Support CEHI’s GIS capacity building efforts
Create and manage references lists for publications and grants
Conduct research to locate and obtain relevant data
Complete all required unit trainings and maintain frequent and effective communication with coworkers, student supervisors, and professional staff
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a related field
Knowledge of fundamental research concepts, practices and procedures
Entry level knowledge of research methods
Experience using GIS software (Esri Products, QGIS)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a team-based environment
Ability to solve problems within limits of departmental policy and procedures
Strong critical thinking skills
Ability to work independently to accomplish all tasks to a high standard
