Municipal Credit Analyst

Wilmington Trust is seeking a Municipal Credit Analyst to join their Municipal Fixed Income group. The successful candidate will conduct fundamental credit analysis and develop actionable investment ideas for municipal bond investments, working closely with the Municipal Research Team and portfolio managers.

Responsibilities

Analyze investment grade municipal credits through in-depth fundamental credit analysis
Provide timely and insightful credit and relative value opinions on municipal bond investment opportunities
Evaluate appropriateness of new investment opportunities for total return and laddered portfolio strategies
Provide written credit opinions of issuers, incorporating financial statement analysis, economic/market trends, and sector developments
Review offering memoranda for suitability of security structure and bondholder protections
Monitor existing portfolio holdings
Follow market and policy developments within assigned geographies/sectors
Formulate and communicate investment theses within assigned sectors
Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite
Complete other related duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years' industry experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 6 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years' industry experience
Strong quantitative and analytical skills, advanced accounting skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to convey complex credit issues clearly and concisely
Familiarity with basic artificial intelligence concepts and eagerness to increase proficiency
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
Collaborative, team-oriented

Preferred

CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or progressing toward obtaining CFA designation
Knowledge of Bloomberg and Perform/CreditScope helpful but not required
Graduate degree in finance, public administration or related field strongly preferred
