Program Director 1 - Recreational Sports

Responsibilities

Directs the recruitment, selection, supervision, payroll process, and evaluation of staff and students; provide guidance, and is responsible for professional development and training for staff
Provides supervision to the Program Manager (Coordinator) for Recreational Sports and assists with the supervision of student staff
Provides leadership and direction for a comprehensive Sport Club and Intramural Sports programs; ensures department policies and procedures follow local and state regulations; creates various reports including annual and semiannual reports as needed
Assess, evaluate, and mitigate risk for programs, implement departmental emergency action plan, inspect campus program areas and fields, and contribute to the Departmental Safety Committee
Maintain records, contract agreements, and sports equipment
Responsible for scheduling and coordinating departmental programs; consults with and responds to participant questions and concerns
Develop, plan, and implement long range strategic plans and assessment of student development, learning outcomes, evaluations of programs, services, and staff
Develop program budgets, monitor expenses and revenue goals, and identify opportunities for fundraising, sponsorship, and grants to support programs and events
Collaborate with campus partners and academic units to develop and implement programs and events that contribute to student success
Performs other job-related duties as required

Required

A Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Health Education, Physical Education, Sports Management, Recreation, or related field
Minimum requirements include 3-years of direct experience in intramural sports, sport clubs or family programming progressive experience in a university setting
Supervisory experience of full time staff
Direct experience in the management of sport clubs and intramural sports

Preferred

Master's degree preferred
Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience
Department is willing to accept experience in lieu of education
