Responsibilities

Lead development and scale-up of a purification process for an extracellularly secreted His-tagged protein expressed in E. coli
Develop robust mRNA and DNA purification processes
Optimize chromatographic methods (IMAC, ion exchange, SEC, etc.) to maximize yield, purity, and reproducibility
Establish clarification and concentration strategies (centrifugation, filtration, TFF) appropriate for scale-up
Troubleshoot process bottlenecks such as resin fouling, aggregation, low recovery, and host-cell impurity carryover
Perform analytical characterization of products using
Develop, document, and maintain detailed protocols and SOPs
Support early CMC and IND-enabling efforts by generating high-quality process development data
Contribute broadly to platform R&D, including molecular biology, cell-based assays, and in vivo studies as needed
Contribute to upstream optimization including strain selection & growth conditions

Required

PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or a related field. Recent graduates are welcome, as are those with relevant postdoctoral or industry experience
You can quickly identify what you are missing to solve these scientific problems
You explore new (and old!) areas of the literature to develop new ideas
You like to learn new methods
You are relentless in sourcing what you need
You are someone who has had a lot of exposure to chromatographic methods (e.g., IMAC / Ni-NTA, FPLC/AKTA systems)
Strong understanding of protein chemistry

Preferred

Bacterial fermentation optimization
Molecular cloning (e.g., Gibson or Golden Gate assembly)
Mammalian cell culture and transfection
Working in fast-moving R&D teams with rapidly evolving priorities
Clear written and verbal scientific communication
Writing protocols/reports/SOPs
Collaborating across disciplines while driving independent contributions
Mentoring new researchers
