Field Inspector – Transmission & Substation Inspections

Responsibilities

Perform steel structure foundation and repair inspections
Perform substation foundation and repair inspections
Oversee wood pole treatment and testing methods
Oversee steel structure coating crews
Conduct full evaluations of transmission structures to help evaluate the health of electrical circuits
Assess storm damage and support emergency restoration crews
Verify contractors are following design specifications and safety requirements
Document field conditions through written reports and photo documentation
Coordinate and oversee field work across transmission line and substation environments
Travel as required based on project location within the service territory

Required

5+ years of active field experience
Computer skills to properly complete daily and weekly reports
Capability to perform photo documentation
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Knowledge of QA/QC inspections and reporting practices
Knowledge of various electronics used to create reports
Current and valid driver's license
U.S. Citizenship required
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications and comparing them to customer or engineer standards
Proficiency in both verbal and written communication
Ability to create detailed reports
Willingness to travel based on current location across OH, PA, VA, WV, NJ, and MD
Ability to wear required PPE for the full shift while onsite
Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds
Ability to walk up to 3+ miles per day across rough terrain or uneven surfaces
Occasional overtime may be required

Preferred

Minimum of 5 years preferred, 7 years of knowledge of transmission line work, foundations, stringing of conductors, transmission substations, and facilities

Travel: Travel within ~2 hours of job sites (own vehicle; mileage is reimbursed at GSA rate)
