Hotel General Manager

Confidential is seeking a Residential Hotel General Manager who is a sales-driven leader responsible for managing daily hotel operations with a primary focus on driving revenue, sales growth, and profitability. This role includes providing leadership, training, direction, and support to hotel employees while ensuring high standards for guest satisfaction and asset protection.

Responsibilities

Lead and support all sales initiatives to maximize occupancy, ADR, and overall revenue
Partner closely with the Revenue Management and Corporate Sales teams to identify market opportunities, optimize pricing strategies, and grow demand
Actively analyze market trends, competitor activity, and local demand generators to drive proactive sales strategies
Ensure the property consistently meets or exceeds revenue and profit goals
Provide the Revenue Management Department with detailed market analysis of competitors’ rates by segment (weekday/weekend) and forecasts of local market conditions and special events impacting occupancy and pricing
Actively support and execute sales strategies as directed by Management and the Corporate Sales organization
Train front desk staff on effective selling techniques, upselling strategies, and current promotions to maximize revenue at the property level
Provide input to the annual budget, including forecasting changes in operating expenses, labor costs, and revenue opportunities
Use business and sales forecasts to manage costs by scheduling labor appropriately, controlling expenses based on demand, and managing utilities per energy standards
Adjust controllable expenses based on forecasted monthly revenue to protect profit margins and support sales-driven growth
Analyze budget variances, take corrective action, and implement controls to avoid future discrepancies
Execute company purchasing policies and procedures
Manage employees to deliver exceptional guest service and high-quality products that directly support repeat business, positive reviews, and revenue growth
Personally handle escalated guest concerns and resolve issues before departure whenever possible
Respond to guest complaints, Guest Assistance Contact Forms, and comment cards per company standards
Achieve satisfactory Medallia (guest satisfaction) scores and implement corrective actions as needed
Train and develop employees according to HR programs and company guidelines
Train staff to deliver exceptional service, effectively handle dissatisfied guests, and support sales initiatives
Properly administer HR policies, payroll, personnel actions, and fair employment practices
Conduct wage surveys to support competitive compensation and budget planning
Maintain satisfactory employee satisfaction scores and acceptable turnover levels
Lead by example with professionalism, ethics, and adherence to company standards
Ensure the hotel’s physical condition meets quality control standards to protect assets and enhance guest experience
Manage preventive maintenance and quick-fix programs per company guidelines
Achieve satisfactory Medallia product quality scores and correct deficiencies promptly

Required

Minimum of 5 years as a Hotel General Manager or comparable hotel management role
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
Light lifting or carrying may be required
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Ability to manage multiple tasks and interruptions while maintaining professionalism
Flexible schedule, including varied hours and days
Valid driver's license required
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
Strong knowledge of hotel management and operations
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical, financial, and decision-making skills

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management or Business preferred; equivalent experience accepted
Proven success in sales leadership, revenue growth, and market-driven decision-making strongly preferred
