Sr. Financial Analyst

The Senior Financial Analyst will serve as the primary financial and commercial intelligence partner to the Merchandising organization, responsible for analyzing financial performance and providing insights to improve profitability and growth.

Responsibilities

Analyze units, revenue, gross margin, and contribution margin by SKU, category, banner, and channel
Rank products and categories by performance, growth, and decline
Identify which categories, products, and vendors are winning and which are shrinking
Analyze inventory turns, weeks of supply, and margin erosion drivers
Provide clear explanations of performance drivers and financial outcomes
Perform deep post-promotion analysis explaining what specifically happened during promotional events
Measure promotional ROI including lift, margin impact, discount effectiveness, and inventory movement
Identify cannibalization, over-discounting, and margin leakage
Recommend pricing, promotional depth, and cadence changes based on data
Analyze consumer purchasing behavior, loyalty participation, frequency, and basket composition
Develop a working mastery of the CRM and loyalty platform to extract meaningful insight
Identify customer segments driving growth versus decline
Translate loyalty and consumer insights into merchandising and promotional recommendations
Analyze eCommerce performance including traffic, conversion, basket size, and product mix
Identify what is driving online sales and where friction exists
Recommend actions to make eCommerce a more productive and profitable engine
Partner with Merchandising and Marketing to align digital assortment and promotions
Analyze shelf productivity and space economics from a financial lens
Identify underperforming shelf space and assortment inefficiencies
Support data-backed recommendations for assortment resets and space reallocation
Tell leadership what happened, why it happened, and what to do next
Connect financial outcomes to merchandising decisions and customer behavior
Proactively surface risks and opportunities without waiting to be asked
Influence merchandising strategy through data-driven recommendations

Required

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business required
4–7+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis or FP&A
Strong FP&A foundation with retail and merchandising fluency
Deep understanding of units, revenue, margin, promotions, inventory turns, and shelf economics
Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; BI tools strongly preferred
Ability to synthesize complex datasets into clear executive narratives
Comfort operating in a fast-paced, acquisition-driven environment
Ability to obtain and maintain an active Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) badge in the state of Colorado

Preferred

Experience supporting retail, merchandising, or consumer-facing businesses strongly preferred
