Responsibilities
Partner with data engineers, data scientists, and product managers to understand data and analytics requirements
Design end-to-end data solutions including ingestion, storage, processing, and consumption
Create and maintain architecture diagrams, standards, and reference patterns for the enterprise data platform
Select appropriate AWS services and data technologies based on performance, cost, security, and scalability needs
Build and support data pipelines (batch and streaming) using AWS services such as S3, Lambda, EMR, Kinesis, Step Functions, Redshift, and Snowflake
Implement and support ML and advanced analytics pipelines
Configure and manage AWS infrastructure including networking (VPCs), IAM roles and policies, and security controls
Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot pipeline failures, performance issues, and access problems
Review and occasionally write Python scripts and SQL to support platform functionality
Ensure all solutions align with Hyatt’s target-state data architecture and security standards
Provide architectural guidance and design reviews across projects
Enforce best practices around reliability, scalability, cost optimization, and data security
Act as a technical authority and escalation point for complex data platform issues
Automate AWS infrastructure and data platform deployments using Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
Support CI/CD pipelines for data services and BI applications using tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline
Reduce manual processes through scripting and automation
Lead and support migrations of on-premises data systems to AWS
Evaluate existing platforms and design AWS-native or hybrid replacements
Support cutover planning, execution, and post-migration validation
Work closely with application development, data engineering, and analytics teams on daily implementation tasks
Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Build strong relationships across teams and act as a trusted problem solver
Balance multiple initiatives while maintaining attention to detail and delivery quality
Qualification
Required
6+ years of experience in data platform, application, or cloud engineering roles
4+ years of hands-on AWS experience designing and building data solutions
Strong experience with data warehousing technologies such as Snowflake or Amazon Redshift
Deep knowledge of AWS services including S3, EC2, RDS, Lambda, EMR, Kinesis, Step Functions, VPC, and IAM
Proficiency in SQL and Python for data engineering and automation
Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD pipelines
Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, security, and cloud monitoring
Preferred
Experience with streaming platforms such as Kafka
Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS Fargate)
Experience supporting both Linux and Windows environments
Experience in large-scale enterprise or highly regulated environments
