Staff Accountant (Limited Term)
Salud Para La Gente is an organization focused on providing community health services. They are seeking a Staff Accountant to support general ledger activities, month and year-end closings, and assist with payroll processing and financial analysis.

Responsibilities
Consistently adhere to and/or exceed SPLG’s communication guidelines and expectations with internal and external customers including co-workers, patients, and external partners
Prepare general ledger entries
Assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks
Reconcile bank accounts
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
Assist with monthly revenue and expense variance analysis
Assist in balance sheet accounts reconciliation
Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance with internal policies
Develop and provide various financial or payroll data, analysis, and recommendations as requested
Interface with managers in various departments including Accounting, Operations, and Finance
Review timesheets, track sick leave and accrual benefits; calculate deductions and termination benefits
Assist in all aspects of payroll processing under the guidance of the Payroll Supervisor; lead and process Payroll in absence of the supervisor
Process retroactive payments and training differentials
Provide back-up support for all roles of Finance Department including Payroll, Accounts Payable, Purchasing and Accounts Receivable
Assist the Senior Accountant, as needed
Communicate effectively and respectfully by using welcoming words, proper tone of voice, appropriate body language, eye contact and smiling in interactions

Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
At least two (2) years of full-cycle accounting or payroll experience
Possession of a valid CA Driver's License and current vehicle insurance; must be able to travel between sites and other places
Knowledge of accounting or payroll principles, practices and standards
Proficient use of Excel, Word and Outlook
Financial or payroll spreadsheets
Financial or payroll analysis
Accounting/Payroll month-end and year-end closing processes
Attention to detail
Related federal, state and local codes, laws and regulations
Ability to think critically
Ability to analyze complex issues comprehensively
Ability to reconcile payroll transactions
Ability to interpret and apply applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations
Ability to meet strict deadlines
Ability to work independently in the absence of a supervisor
Ability to organize work and prioritize competing demands
Ability to manage time efficiently
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and protected information
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Preferred
Experience working with MIP accounting software or similar programs
Experience working with Paylocity, or similar payroll software system
Experience working in the health care industry, preferably within an FQHC
College degree with major coursework in Accounting, Finance or a related field
Bilingual/biliterate in English and Spanish
