Distribution Engineer I
K&A Engineering Consulting is a privately held company providing comprehensive consulting, engineering and design services to power utility and industrial clients. They are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Distribution Engineer I to work on challenging projects in the energy and utility sectors, focusing on developing distribution designs and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Responsibilities
Develop overhead and underground distribution designs based on field data, utility standards, and engineering requirements
Produce construction-ready design packages, including drawings, work orders, material lists, and cost estimates
Apply utility design standards, clearance requirements, and engineering principles to ensure safe and reliable system layouts
Perform redlining and updates to construction prints to reflect field conditions and design changes
Use design tools, GIS platforms, and utility software to create and update distribution system models
Perform field data collection associated with electric power lines, poles, equipment, and right-of-way conditions
Conduct field measurements and surveys to support accurate engineering design
Inspect existing distribution infrastructure to verify conditions, identify hazards, and confirm constructability
Document field findings through notes, photos, sketches, and digital tools
Pull and analyze data from SAP, SmartMap, GIS systems, and other utility databases
Communicate professionally with customers, property owners, contractors, and utility personnel during field visits
Actively ensure compliance with all safety regulations, utility standards, and environmental requirements
Qualification
Required
Experience in utility distribution design, field inspection, or related electrical/engineering work
Prior experience working with an electric utility company or contractor is required
Ability to accurately collect and document data
Must have current US Work authorization and a valid US Driver License in good standing
Must be able to travel daily to different sites for Field Inspection services
Preferred
Comfortable interacting with customers
Ability to identify potential hazards during field work and take appropriate steps to mitigate risks
Familiarity with SAP, GIS platforms, SmartMap, or similar systems is a plus
