Senior Accountant -Private Equity Fund
Hudson Gate Partners is a growing and stable private equity fund seeking a Senior Accounting Associate to join their finance team. The role involves oversight of fund and management company accounting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and managing relationships with third-party administrators.
Responsibilities
Monitor and review all capital activity, including capital calls (subscriptions) and distributions, ensuring accurate and timely processing by the fund administrator
Conduct in-depth reviews of quarterly and annual financial statements, partner capital statements, and supporting work papers prepared by the administrator to ensure accuracy and compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., U.S. GAAP)
Verify the accurate calculation of fund performance metrics, including Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and investment multiples
Oversee the valuation process of portfolio investments, collaborating with investment teams and challenging the administrator’s inputs as necessary
Review monthly accounting packages for the management company and General Partner (GP) entities prepared by the administrator, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
Ensure proper expense recognition, allocation methodologies, and intercompany reconciliations are applied consistently
Assist with the annual budgeting process and ongoing monitoring of expenses against budget
Manage the execution of compliance calendars for both fund and management company entities
Assist in the coordination and review of annual audits with external auditors and the fund administrator, serving as a primary point of contact for audit inquiries
Oversee the timely and accurate filing of tax information (e.g., K-1s, partnership returns) by the tax administrator
Monitor adherence to the fund’s Limited Partnership Agreement (LPA) terms, ensuring compliance with fee calculations, distribution waterfalls, and reporting requirements
Support the Chief Compliance Officer in fulfilling regulatory reporting obligations (e.g., SEC filings like Form ADV and Form PF, if applicable)
Serve as the primary liaison between the firm and third-party fund and tax administrators, managing the relationship and resolving complex issues
Identify opportunities to streamline accounting and reporting processes, enhancing efficiency and control frameworks
Mentor junior staff and assist with ad-hoc projects and analyses as required by senior management
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
2-5 years of experience in private equity fund accounting from either public accounting, a fund administrator, or another private equity fund
Strong experience in private equity structures and operations
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Experience with fund accounting oversight
Ability to conduct in-depth reviews of financial statements and supporting work papers
Knowledge of U.S. GAAP
Experience in managing compliance and reporting obligations
Ability to mentor junior staff
Preferred
