Responsibilities
Supervising a crew of skilled, semi-skilled, and unskilled positions in maintenance, repair, installation and construction activities of the New York State Fairgrounds facilities, property, and equipment
Performing skilled journey-level trades work, in one specific skilled trade and/or a combination of skilled and semiskilled duties in various skilled trades for the repair and maintenance of the Fairgrounds property
Performing, as well as supervising and instructing others in preparing surfaces and applying coats of paint, varnish, and other finishes and stains to decorate and protect interior or exterior surfaces and fixtures of buildings, structures, furniture, equipment, and materials
Performing, as well as supervising and instructing others in installation, alteration, and repair of pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, ventilating, heating control, water, and drainage systems according to specification and plumbing codes
Performing, as well as supervising and instructing others in journey-level carpentry work and construction and repair of structures and other items
Performing, as well as supervising and instructing others in skilled mechanical work in automotive repair including the maintenance, repair, and overhaul of gasoline, diesel-powered, and alternative fuel self-propelled and non-self-propelled motor-driven equipment
Performing routine maintenance and mechanical repairs on disabled vehicles, construction, and other equipment on the fairgrounds
Qualification
Required
One year of trade experience subsequent to the completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience such as that required for a Trades Specialist (Carpenter)
