Regional Bond Leader
Coleman Search Group is seeking an experienced contract surety underwriter to oversee contract surety underwriting and business development efforts for a multi-region territory. The ideal candidate will lead a surety team, drive sales growth, and ensure profitability in the assigned region.
Responsibilities
This leader is responsible for the oversite of bond production, underwriting activities and sales for a multi-state region
Monitors and ensures the achievement of the region’s profitability and production goals and keeps abreast of current market conditions that affect business levels
Oversees and participates in conducting agency visits, establishing rapport within the region, and driving sales growth through the writing of profitable business
Responsible for meeting profitability goals within assigned region and overseeing the acceptance, declination, and rating of risks
Establishes and develops agency relationships for new marketing opportunities in all bond product lines
Train, coach, mentor, and lead a team with varying levels of experience and seniority
Educates and assists field staff with bond production to produce cross-sell opportunities and new leverage points with agency plant
Works in conjunction with the small business team to ensure the proper underwriting of new and renewal surety and fidelity business
Evaluate new business and renewal submissions
Underwrites accounts that exceed field authority and submits concise recommendations to leadership when required
Uses bond system automation and enhancements to improve efficiencies within assigned region
Work with leadership and regional operations management to help determine strategic and tactical goals and initiatives to drive profitable growth
Travel up to 40% within your region; a valid driver’s license is required
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree
Minimum of 8 years of contract surety underwriting experience
At least 3 years in a leadership capacity
Strong people-leader skills
Deep proficiency with financial analysis
Knowledge of accounting methods
Ability to maintain and establish working relationships internally and externally
Ability to work autonomously in the field
Valid driver's license
Willingness to travel up to 40% within your region

Additional training and certifications including AFSB, AU, CPCU or other courses and designations
