They are seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Flood (Water Resources) Engineer to join their Catastrophe Engineering and Analytics team, where the primary role involves assessing and presenting flood risk for individual customer property portfolios and conducting flood risk evaluations.

Responsibilities

Contribute to flood risk modeling and analytics to support ongoing business needs

Perform flood risk evaluations using vendor models and internal tools

Communicate flood risk modeling concepts and results to underwriters to guide underwriting decisions

Collaborate with the team to integrate BHSI’s view of risk into catastrophe modeling tools and platforms

Support all aspects of natural catastrophe analytics

Required

Master's degree in Water Resources Engineering, Hydrology, Hydraulics, or a related discipline

Strong understanding of surface water processes, with emphasis on hydrologic and hydraulic modeling; prior flood modeling/mapping experience is a plus

Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, or SQL

Solid knowledge of probability and statistics

Advanced GIS skills (QGIS, ArcGIS, or equivalent)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and a strong team player
