Responsibilities
Provide engineering services for the planning, design and construction of project additions to MidAmerican Energy Company's energy delivery system; focus may include planning and budgeting gas and electric systems. (45%)
Provide technical project management for all phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections. (20%)
Conduct engineering studies and investigations and prepare oral and written reports. (20%)
Provide engineering assistance to other departments and perform any additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (10%)
Keep informed of industry issues and technical trends that can benefit MidAmerican Energy Company's business. (5%)
Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning
Demonstration of knowledge and understanding of human performance improvement techniques
Evaluate present practices and implement processes, concepts, training and tools to prevent, detect and correct human errors that may adversely impact the safe, reliable operation of the electric transmission and distribution system
Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution
1 to 3 years of experience for Engineer II position
5 years of industry experience for Senior Engineer position
8 years of industry experience for Senior Engineer II position; if no PE license, must have 10 years as a practicing engineer
12 years of industry experience for Principal Engineer position; if no PE license, must have 15 years as a practicing engineer
Effective oral and written communication skills
Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently
Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation
Preferred
PE license preferred for Engineer II position
PE license required for Senior Engineer II and Principal Engineer positions
