Responsibilities

Support the Geodetic Surveyor in managing and maintaining the Alaska Continuously Operating Reference System (ACORN) a Real Time Reference Network using Global Navigation Satellite System (CORS/RTRN GNSS)
Build and maintain CORS stations, configure and maintain the Real Time Network (RTN) infrastructure, and coordinate with other state, federal, and Canadian RTN administrators
Perform advanced engineering tasks to address and resolve complex technical issues
Provide hardware and software training to network users
Develop and maintain professional relationships and outreach with onsite contacts, RTN IT staff, and various stakeholders

Required

Bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture, or land surveying from a postsecondary institution accredited by ABET
A bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture, or land surveying from a postsecondary institution not accredited by ABET
An Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Land Surveyor-In-Training (LSIT) certificate issued by a state or the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) examination
An applicant who will obtain within nine months a bachelor's degree from an institution accredited by ABET, with a major in engineering, architecture, or land surveying, will qualify to apply
Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent, with a major in engineering, architecture, or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET
One year of entry-level engineering, architectural, or land surveying experience as an Engineering Assistant 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere
Five years of progressively responsible subprofessional engineering experience, of which two years were spent as a journey-level engineering technician or drafting technician 3 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere
Graduate study in engineering and/or architecture may be substituted for the required experience as an Engineering Assistant 1
Eight years of progressively responsible work experience in engineering, land surveying or architecture, of which one year was as an Engineering Assistant 3 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere

Preferred

Driver's license is preferred but not required for this position
