The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is seeking college interns for their Division of Surface Water. Interns will assist technical staff with in-field sample collection, data management, and equipment maintenance while gaining valuable experience in environmental protection and water quality assessment.

Responsibilities

Assist the technical staff with routine duties

Participate in in-field sample collection, sample processing, equipment maintenance, sample QA/QC, and data management

Spend most of the time in the field collecting/processing samples

Assist with model development when not in the field

Use electrofishing gear, boats, wading crafts, and dipnets for insects when collecting aquatic samples

Assist with equipment maintenance and data entry when not in the field

Required

Must be currently enrolled in a college degree program directly related to the position or have recently graduated within the quarter/semester immediately preceding the start date

Major area of study: Environmental Science, Water Resources, Chemistry or Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical) or relevant field of study

Knowledge of safety practices, public relations, Agency policies and procedures and permits as applicable

Skills in computers (word processing and database work)
