Systems Engineer - ELSYS - Tucson, AZ - (Open Rank)
The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is the nonprofit, applied research division of the Georgia Institute of Technology. They are seeking a Systems Engineer to oversee and coordinate technical teams on systems projects, ensuring successful design, implementation, and management of those projects while working closely with stakeholders to develop technical requirements.

Responsibilities
Facilitate product or system requirements gathering and analysis with sponsors and other key stakeholders
Verify systems engineering product life-cycle components to include definitions, requirements analysis, synthesis, systems analysis and implementation
Conduct product or system design synthesis translating requirements into physical architectures for systems of moderate complexity to include defining and refining internal and external interfaces
Develop and contribute to technical reports and diagrams detailing product or system attributes
Analyze product or system functionality as defined by requirements
Design and analyze aircraft modifications for AATC test aircraft, to include documentation of the modifications and advocating for their approval with aircraft program offices or other approval authorities
Support other engineers in the development of modifications in order to ensure structures and design meet acceptable aerospace standards
Interpret system requirements to design and produce aircraft mechanical and interconnect hardware for test and evaluation
Produce technical data for approval authority and fabricators including but not limited to drawings, analyses, reports, customer briefs, and so forth
Perform analysis of flight test data and structural designs
Qualification
Required
Foundational knowledge of structural design and mechanical integration/test, including exposure to developmental design in laboratory or flight-test environments
Proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) tools used for mechanical modeling, drafting, and documentation
Experience or expertise in one or more of the following: (1) Cable and interconnect design, fabrication, troubleshooting (2) Mechanical component design and drafting (3) Systems test and verification (4) Data analysis (5) Technical data packaging (6) Structural stress analysis
Strong communication skills relaying analytical and technical information to stakeholders
Ability to obtain Security Clearance
5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field of study
3 years of related experience with a Masters' degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field of study
0 years of related experience with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field of study
Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance
Preferred
Active Secret Clearance
In-depth experience creating models and technical drawings using software such as AutoCAD or Solidworks, or equivalent
Knowledge of architectures, functions, and interfaces for electronic warfare (EW) and avionics systems
Hands-on experience creating physical hardware; mechanical, structural, and cable and interconnect solutions
Experience or expertise in one or more of the following: (1) test and evaluation of aerospace systems, (2) sensor integration, (3) signal processing (4) EO/IR sensors, (5) knowledge of RF threat systems
Experience with procedures for modification of Military and Civil aircraft
Understanding of Finite Element Analysis and modeling necessary for successful implementation
Familiarity with GTRI or DoD test and evaluation environments, engineering documentation standards, and configuration management practices
Experience working with or for USAF System Program Offices
