Aerospace CNC Machinist

Applied Composites (AC) is seeking an Aerospace CNC Machinist to operate CNC machines and use existing programming to produce tools & parts to dimensional requirements. The ideal candidate will possess several years of CNC operating experience and will work under indirect supervision to ensure quality production.

Responsibilities

Operate a 5-axis CNC machine
Sets up and operates a range of automatic or semiautomatic machines
Reports malfunctions in equipment and makes minor adjustments and repairs
Run CNC programs to produce tools & parts to dimensional/tolerance requirements
Participate in brainstorming / problem solving with Engineering & Production personnel to solve related problems
Perform preventative maintenance to equipment
Recommend new technologies for continuous improvement
Follow Standard Industrial practices for working with composites & other materials
Other responsibilities as assigned

Required

A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
2-3 years of relevant work experience
Operate a 5-axis CNC machine
Sets up and operates a range of automatic or semiautomatic machines
Reports malfunctions in equipment and makes minor adjustments and repairs
Run CNC programs to produce tools & parts to dimensional/tolerance requirements
Participate in brainstorming / problem solving with Engineering & Production personnel to solve related problems
Perform preventative maintenance to equipment
Recommend new technologies for continuous improvement
Follow Standard Industrial practices for working with composites & other materials
Understanding of material properties & characteristics
Working knowledge of various measuring gages: micrometers, pin gages, dial indicator, screw pitch gage, height gage, and comparator stand/gage
Advanced Computer Knowledge
Ability to do trigonometry and geometrical math computations
Ability to interact effectively with customers, peers, management, manufacturing personnel, and both technical and non-technical people

Preferred

Previous CNC programming experience
Previous CMS knowledge
Experience in laminating Carbon Fiber, Fiberglass, Kevlar, or other composite material
