Responsibilities

Design and develop high quality, testable and scalable software solutions within established timelines while adhering to R&D best practices and processes

Program in Java on a Windows or Linux environment

Lead scoping and planning activities on complex software development projects in a continuous delivery environment

Collaborate with other developers, testers, project managers, and product managers to ensure implementations satisfy functional requirements and are consistent with established R&D standards

Lead design, code, and documentation reviews

Ensure quality through automated functional, unit, and performance testing

Maintain accountability for the entire life cycle of the product code including providing technical support for both internal

Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals

Support internal and external customers

Be encouraged to participate in open-source projects on behalf of SAS

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related quantitative field

8+ years of software development/programming experience

Strong Java and Spring programming experience in both Windows and Linux environment

Strong knowledge of large-scale web-based enterprise software development

Strong understanding of software development tools, methodologies, and principles

Experience using CVS, Gerrit, Git, or GitHub for source code management and code review

Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications

Preferred

Excellent communication skills with ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Stay current with emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices, applying this knowledge to strengthen our platforms

Ability to work independently as part of a team while mentoring younger team members

Knowledge of the SAS 9 product line and middle tier architecture
