Research Assistant/Associate

Responsibilities
Perform nutrient analysis on water samples using a spectrophotometer
Perform off-flavor analysis on water samples using SPME GC-MS
Perform qPCR analysis on water samples
Perform algal pigment analysis, including chlorophyll and phycocyanin using a fluorometer
Engage in field work to collect water samples
Ensure proper maintenance of laboratory equipment
Maintain inventory and order supplies
Train new members of the lab in various water quality techniques
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related field
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related discipline plus 2 years of experience relevant to the position
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related discipline plus 4 years of experience relevant to the position
Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related at the time employment begins; no experience required
Master's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Ecology, Limnology, or closely related discipline plus 2 years of experience relevant to the position
Knowledge/experience with lab water quality analyses, such as analytical chemistry tools like GC-MS, and molecular analyses, such as qPCR
Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
Preferred
Prior coursework in limnology and statistics desired
