Responsibilities

Lead the definition and development of advanced power management strategies, architectures (12V and 48V), and roadmaps for Ford’s next-generation FNV3.x - ICE, FHEV and electric vehicles, ensuring alignment with overall vehicle electrification goals
Drive the exploration and integration of innovative power management technologies, energy optimization algorithms, and intelligent control systems
Translate high-level product vision and customer insights into detailed system-level (L0 to L5) requirements and technical specifications for the entire power management controls ecosystem
Lead the end-to-end system engineering lifecycle for advanced power management systems, from concept and architectural definition through detailed design, integration, and optimization
Guide and mentor engineers in defining, analyzing, and maintaining comprehensive system, subsystem, and component-level requirements for advanced power management controls, power supply components, energy storage systems, and their communication interfaces with all electrical loads and modules
Oversee the development and execution of Model-in-the-Loop (MIL) simulations to validate control algorithms and system behavior for power management at the conceptual and architectural levels, ensuring early design robustness
Lead the implementation of Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) environments to verify the functionality, performance, and integrity of embedded software for power management units against simulated plant models, bridging the gap between design and hardware integration
Drive collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers to develop, negotiate, and communicate robust technical requirements and design specifications for cutting-edge power management components and solutions
Oversee the development and integration of Power Management System-Level DFMEAs (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and other reliability analyses, driving the implementation of mitigation strategies to manage severity and occurrence across the system
Act as a primary technical interface and lead cross-functional problem-solving and integration initiatives across HW component Design & Release teams, Architecture, and Software teams to achieve holistic system-level performance, efficiency, and safety objectives
Led Power Management Change Control forum and supplier integration stand ups
Define, review, and approve comprehensive test plans and validation strategies to ensure all requirements and functional performance targets for advanced power management systems are met
Lead the planning, execution, and analysis of power supply validation activities, including comprehensive testing in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments to ensure robust system integration and performance under various operating conditions at VPEC. This includes designing and implementing HIL test cases for power electronics, battery management systems, charging control units, performing real-time fault injection, and validating communication protocols
Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex power management components and integrated in-vehicle systems, driving root cause analysis and resolution
Direct activities in VPEC Lab environments, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and effective testing methodologies
Apply advanced principles of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Data Analysis & Visualization, Risk Analysis, Feature Prioritization, FMEA, and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize system performance and KOL reliability
Leverage product analytics and established metrics to drive continuous improvement and backlog prioritization across Agile cycles
Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers and cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence
Coordinate with manufacturing and quality teams to ensure all necessary quality documents and test requirements are in place for vehicle builds and production

Required

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related field. or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
10+ years of system engineering experience in the automotive industry, with a focus on power electronics, power management, or high-voltage systems
4+ years of design and release experience in the automotive industry or a related field
3+ years experience in leading technical projects or initiatives within an engineering environment

Preferred

Master of Science degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related field
7+ years of automotive industry system engineering experience, specifically with advanced power management systems or vehicle electrical architectures
7+ years of automotive industry design and release experience, including successful product launches
3+ years of product launch experience for complex automotive electrical systems
Proficiency with JIRA/JAMA/GPDS/Integrator systems
Working level knowledge of FuSa, CAN/CAN-FD, AUTOSAR, and Cyber Security principles as they apply to power management systems
Experience with energy management algorithms, battery management systems (BMS), or charging systems
Demonstrated experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing for power electronics or power management systems
