Maintenance Support Tech I or II
The Texas Department of Transportation is seeking Maintenance Support Tech I or II to provide administrative support in a maintenance office or district headquarters. The role involves performing tasks related to inventory management, correspondence editing, and assisting district personnel with various administrative duties.
Government Administration
Responsibilities
Answers the telephone, evaluates requests, answers questions, routes messages, and/or serves as receptionist or front desk assistant
Assists district personnel with annual inventory of supplies, stockpiles and minor equipment
Conducts monthly spot inventories, verifies inventory findings, reconciles and coordinates with Business Services on adjustments needed
Edits correspondence, reports, forms, and documents for proper format, spelling, grammar, punctuation, typographical errors, syntax, style, sentence structure, content, and clarity
Maintains and updates office files/records/logs and a wide variety of automated systems in support of personnel, finance, budgeting, maintenance, inventory, contracts, purchasing, travel information, and/or permitting activities
Monitors the use of equipment and transfers
Reviews, prepares and/or negotiates applicable program purchases for services, office materials, supplies, tools and/or equipment and monitors contracts
Maintains calendars for department personnel to include scheduling meetings, coordinating and making appointments, and travel arrangements
Processes receipts and invoices for payment
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned
Composes and prepares correspondence and applicable recurring or special one-time reports and/or confidential and sensitive communications
Maintains materials inventory
Qualification
Required
High School Grad or Equivalent in general education
Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle
Maintenance Support Tech I: No Experience Required. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent)
Maintenance Support Tech II: 1 YEAR in administrative or clerical support, customer service, or related experience. (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent)
Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis

Shows initiative and action beyond what is required to improve products or services; is self-starting and completes assignments independently without constant supervision
Protects sensitive and confidential information
