Responsibilities
Performs audits of business financial statements and assets: prepares letters to schedule audit; conducts site visits to examine assets; meets with owners and accountants; examines financial records; and provides results of audits
Assists business owners, tax representatives, and the general public with tax-related matters: and provides information and answers questions regarding appraisal and audit methodology, appeals process, and current or historical valuation
Represents the assessors in Board of Equalization (BOE) hearings and judicial appeals: collects and organizes information to present to the BOE; files appeals to court; and provides information to attorneys for litigation and hearings
Assists other employees in completing jobs and other assignments: trains and assists employees in learning the appeals procedures; and gives advice based on knowledge of appraisal laws
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field required
Five years of progressively responsible experience in property appraisal and valuation to include lead or supervisory experience
Seven years of experience in the field
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License
Must currently possess and maintain Appraiser IV certification or be actively in pursuit of an Appraiser IV certification
Ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work
Ability to communicate orally
