Chief of Staff
City of New York is responsible for the stewardship of NYC Parks, which encompasses a vast array of recreational facilities and green spaces. The Chief of Staff will coordinate high-priority initiatives, advise the Commissioner on strategic goals, and manage interagency activities while maintaining relationships with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Act as an adviser to the Commissioner and senior leadership team and represent the Commissioner in agency meetings, and external meetings with community partners and other key stakeholders
Advise the Commissioner on agency strategy and policy issues
Troubleshoot, participate in crisis management, ensure clear communication across the agency and manage expectations of agency leadership, and external partners
Ensure that the decisions and policies of the Commissioner are implemented and executed across various divisions and programs within the agency
Prioritize, coordinate and develop agendas and ensure effective follow-ups for internal and external meetings, including meetings with agency leadership, City Hall meetings and quarterly interagency meetings
Convene and direct inter-divisional groups to address problems and pursue initiatives that cut across divisional responsibilities
Liaise with external partners including the Mayor’s Office, other City and State agencies, community organizations, and private sector partners
Develop policies, protocols and standards on programmatic and administrative matters to improve efficiency and strengthen agency capacity
Draft briefings for the Mayor, the Deputy Mayor and the Commissioner
Assist in the recruitment and hiring of key agency leadership positions
Supervise and provide overall direction to staff in the Office of the Commissioner, including scheduling, correspondence and advance
Qualification
Required
Qualifications are determined by Agency Head
Preferred
Master's Degree
Strong knowledge of agency structure and divisions
Strong knowledge of Mayor's office and executive branch operations and protocols
Ability to build strong relationships and work with diverse individuals at all levels of the agency
Excellent, supervisory, administrative and interpersonal skills
Strong project management and data analysis skills
Ability to handle highly confidential matters relating to personnel and agency issues
Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills exercise sound professional judgment
Possess exceptional motivation and maintain a high-energy level
Ability to think creatively, analytically and strategically
Ability to deal with multiple and changing demands in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft, Word, Excel and Access
Valid New York State driver license
