Responsibilities
Maintain accurate job cost reports by project, phase, and cost code
Track committed versus actual costs and proactively flag variances
Process vendor invoices and subcontractor pay applications
Support the monthly close process, including WIP schedules and cost accruals
Reconcile purchase orders, change orders, and contracts with accounting records
Coordinate with project managers, procurement, and field operations to resolve discrepancies
Assist with project-level budget updates, forecasts, and cash flow tracking
Maintain clean, complete, and auditable documentation across all assigned projects
Qualification
Required
2–4 years of full-time experience in construction or real estate development accounting
Direct experience with construction job cost accounting
Familiarity with AIA pay applications, lien waivers, and retainage
Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills; comfortable working with imperfect or evolving data
Experience with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage, Procore, Viewpoint, CMiC, or similar)
High attention to detail with strong follow-through
Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
Experience working within a GC, developer, or design-build firm (not purely public accounting)
Preferred
Comfortable operating independently on assigned projects (not a people-management role)
Pragmatic, organized, and process-oriented
Prefers clear ownership and repeatable workflows
Collaborative and effective in cross-functional environments
Thrives in a growing, imperfect organization where systems are still maturing
