This hands-on role involves leadership in month-end close, financial reporting, forecasting, and team guidance.

Responsibilities
Lead and execute monthly close activities, including preparation and review of the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
Identify issues during close and provide observations and recommendations to leadership
Support ongoing forecasting activities and updates to an established annual budget
Assist leadership with financial modeling, reforecasting, and scenario analysis as organizational needs evolve
Review financial reports prepared by Directors, refine outputs, and provide commentary to the CFO
Support the external audit process (audit is underway and largely self-sufficient)
Assist with preparation of financial statements and related schedules
Work within a nonprofit accounting environment; experience with Financial Edge strongly preferred
Advanced Excel skills required (complex formulas, analysis, reporting)
Serve as a senior accounting resource to two experienced Directors, providing guidance, feedback, and refinement of work products
Ensure alignment to budget expectations and highlight deviations or risks
Act as a thought partner to the CFO on accounting and financial matters
Qualification
Required
Nonprofit accounting experience
Strong hands-on experience with month-end close and financial reporting
Experience supporting or reviewing budgeting and forecasting
Advanced Excel proficiency
Ability to work independently, exercise judgment, and communicate clearly with senior leadership
Preferred
CPA preferred but not required for a strong candidate
Experience with Financial Edge strongly preferred
