Mechanical Engineer
Homeostasis is pioneering advanced carbon conversion technology that transforms industrial CO2 emissions into valuable carbon materials. The Mechanical Engineer will support the design and integration of mechanical systems, focusing on environmental controls and autonomous mechanisms in high-temperature environments.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Homeostasis tech team on the design and fabrication of the Block-4 electrochemical reactor for CO2 reduction to graphite
Support mechanical design across Block-4 subsystems with focus on heat transfer, temperature control, structures, and high-temperature mechanisms
Lead the design of various subsystems and components of Block-4
Develop and document CAD models, engineering drawings, and fabrication specifications
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering team to establish design requirements and ensure compatibility of all subsystems
Establish and update mechanical design requirements
Support prototype fabrication, assembly, testing, and iteration
Contribute to safety assessments, risk mitigation, and operational procedures
Design for scalability for future pilot-scale generations of our tech
Qualification
Required
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related field
2-5 years of experience in mechanical design and prototype development
Proficiency with 3D CAD software and mechanical design tools
Experience with thermal management in high-temperature environments
Knowledge of materials selection for specialized applications
Familiarity with fabrication processes and manufacturing constraints
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to commit full-time (40+ hours/week) for the 6-month project duration
Located in or willing to relocate to Seattle/Tacoma area
Authorization to work in the United States
Preferred
Experience with heat transfer and temperature control at high temperatures
Background in prototype development for chemical or electrochemical processes
Knowledge of automation systems and mechanical integration
Experience with design for manufacturability and scalability
Track record of successful cross-functional collaboration in technical projects
Experience with design review processes and documentation standards
