The role involves creating, refining, and maintaining critical documentation in partnership with manufacturing engineers and production teams to ensure clarity and compliance across operations.

Responsibilities
Develop, write, and update SOPs, work instructions, user guides, job aids, production logs, and other manufacturing documentation
Partner closely with Manufacturing Engineers (MEs), technicians, and production leadership to gather information, observe processes, and translate complex technical steps into clear, structured documentation
Conduct process walk-throughs on the production floor to ensure documentation reflects real-time operations and adheres to best practices
Manage document revisions, version control, and formatting according to internal standards and regulatory requirements
Ensure documentation supports repeatability, quality assurance, and full-rate production objectives
Maintain documentation libraries and support the rollout of new or updated materials to manufacturing teams
Provide cross-functional support for training materials, onboarding guides, and operational process mapping as needed
Travel to manufacturing sites (~25%) to conduct on-site process observations and collaborate with engineering teams
Qualification
Required
3–7+ years of experience as a Technical Writer in a manufacturing, industrial, hardware, or production environment
Strong background in documenting manufacturing processes, SOPs, logs, and work instructions
Proven ability to work closely with MEs, industrial engineers, and production staff
Experience supporting organizations transitioning to or operating in full-rate production
Excellent writing, editing, and structural documentation skills
Ability to translate technical, mechanical, or engineering processes into clear instructions for diverse users
Experience with documentation tools (e.g., Word, Confluence, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, etc.)
Strong attention to detail, process-oriented mindset, and ability to work in fast-paced production environments
Preferred
Experience in regulated industries (aerospace, automotive, defense, medical device, etc.)
Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies
Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, or process flow diagrams
Experience with PLM or QMS systems (e.g., Windchill, Arena, MasterControl)
