Lab Technician
MainStreet Family Care operates over 60 fast-growing urgent care clinics across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina, and they are seeking a Lab Technician to join their clinical team in Birmingham, AL. This role is vital in delivering accurate, timely diagnostic results through high-complexity real-time PCR testing and other laboratory procedures that directly impact patient care.

Responsibilities
Perform CLIA high-complexity, real-time PCR testing in accordance with established protocols and regulatory requirements
Collect, prepare, process, and analyze patient specimens
Accurately document laboratory results in the electronic medical record
Perform quality control procedures, calibration, and routine maintenance on laboratory equipment
Ensure compliance with CLIA, OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards
Prepare and manage specimens for internal and external testing as needed
Monitor laboratory inventory, reagents, and expiration dates
Identify, troubleshoot, and report testing discrepancies, equipment issues, or quality concerns
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment
Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to support efficient operations
Qualification
Required
Medical laboratory certification, or a Bachelor's degree in chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science that is compliant with CLIA standards
Two (2) years of clinical laboratory experience, including molecular or PCR-based testing
Proficiency in real-time PCR and molecular diagnostic techniques
Knowledge of high-complexity laboratory testing standards and CLIA requirements
Strong attention to detail and quality assurance practices
Ability to troubleshoot testing and equipment issues
Effective communication and teamwork skills
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
Five (5) years of clinical laboratory experience
Experience performing high-complexity real-time PCR testing in a regulated laboratory environment
Experience in urgent care, primary care, or high-volume clinical settings
