Additive Manufacturing Operations and Engineering Manager (onsite)
RTX, a leader in aerospace technology, is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Operations and Engineering Manager for its Monroe, NC facility. Responsibilities
Lead daily plant operations across multiple production cells, ensuring alignment with established goals for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost
Manage, mentor, and develop a small team of production, engineering, and manufacturing employees to ensure operational excellence and workforce engagement
Demonstrate a hands-on leadership approach by actively stepping onto the production floor to collaborate with technicians, perform production or maintenance activities as needed, and serve as a fully trained backup technician across all production functions, ensuring seamless support for production operations within a small team environment
Direct, maintain, and update scheduling and sequencing of work to meet production goals, optimize workflow, and ensure on-time delivery and proper forecasting of capacity
Drive cost reduction, process improvement, and lean manufacturing initiatives to maximize efficiency and cost-effectiveness
Partner with Product Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain team members to ensure production goals, customer requirements, and process standards are consistently achieved
Manage procurement, transportation, and delivery by coordinating with suppliers, supporting purchase orders, and expediting as needed to ensure timely and accurate production, minimize disruptions, and meet customer delivery requirements
Champion safety programs, including behavior-based safety and job hazard analysis, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment
Analyze production and labor data to identify trends, mitigate risks, and drive performance improvements
Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement strategic plans for operational growth, efficiency, and innovation
Manage staffing plans, recruitment, training, and performance development initiatives to build a skilled and motivated workforce
Works directly in support of the Site Lead and Product Engineering teams to understand upcoming customer projects, needed onsite or outsourced capabilities, and forecast capacity and schedules
Function as the site’s Security Control Officer (SCO) to ensure the site is safe, secure, and meets all corporate security and cybersecurity requirements
Actively support EHS initiatives and promote a strong safety culture by participating in the EHS Champion program, fulfilling responsibilities outlined in the EHS Management System and EHS plan, and engaging in activities to enhance or improve EHS performance as needed
Must be willing and able to travel 10% of the time
Qualification
Required
Typically requires a university degree and minimum 8 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
4+ years experience working in a manufacturing environment
Preferred
Master's degree in science, engineering, or business
Experience with people management (direct or indirect reports)
Aerospace experience
Background in manufacturing operations, machining, welding, brazing, metal fabrication or surface treatment
Experience with additive manufacturing (Laser Powder Bed Fusion)
Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, or other manufacturing methods to improve safety, quality, and throughput
Experience with Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) or similar production planning processes
Experience launching and supporting new programs or production lines in a manufacturing environment
