Safety Compliance Specialist

Charge EPC is a rapidly growing company known for its design, procurement, and construction services in the underground utility industry. The Safety Compliance Specialist will be responsible for maintaining compliance with safety regulations and internal programs, ensuring safe operations, and managing safety data across multiple projects.

Construction

Responsibilities

Review, analyze, compile, and trend safety data to identify hazards, emerging risks, and improvement opportunities
Maintain accurate, timely, and complete safety records, logs, and performance metrics
Compile, review, and submit safety-related reports and documentation required by clients, utilities, and third-party platforms
Update and maintain contractor prequalification and compliance systems, including ISN, Veriforce, ITS, and similar platforms
Administer ETP (Employment Training Panel) documentation, tracking, and reporting requirements in coordination with leadership and training partners
Support claims administration, including workers’ compensation documentation, coordination, and record management in collaboration with HR, Safety, and third-party administrators
Support the Safety Department with incident reporting, notifications, investigations, and corrective action tracking
Prepare safety performance summaries, dashboards, and management reports using systems such as HCSS and other internal tools
Enter and maintain safety meetings, inspections, observations, and related records within HCSS
Assist with the development, coordination, and documentation of safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training materials
Compile and organize safety data for internal reviews, audits, and leadership meetings
Track corrective actions resulting from incidents, audits, inspections, and client findings to closure
Assist in the development, review, and continuous improvement of safety policies, procedures, and emergency response plans
Coordinate and support internal and external safety audits, inspections, and client evaluations
Serve as a liaison between the company and third-party safety evaluators, prequalification systems, and client safety representatives
Monitor changes in legislation, regulations, and client requirements that may impact safety compliance
Review and manage updates to safety manuals, programs, and training documentation
Manage and support safety recognition programs, including safe driving initiatives and the Good Catch program, to reinforce positive safety behaviors
Support Field Operations by helping ensure safety requirements are understood, documented, and implemented
Promote a proactive safety culture focused on hazard identification, accountability, recognition, and continuous improvement

Required

Strong knowledge of occupational safety principles, compliance requirements, and documentation practices
Experience managing data, reports, and safety management systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports, meeting materials, and correspondence
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends and develop actionable insights
Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
Familiarity with utility construction standards, processes, and field hazards
Ability to support and collaborate with Field Operations, Safety, HR, and management teams
Problem-solving mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities
Collaborative and able to work effectively with a diverse workforce
Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently
Proficient in Microsoft Office and safety data platforms such as HCSS
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
2–4 years of experience in safety compliance, claims support, or a related role
Working knowledge of OSHA standards and applicable state regulations
Experience with contractor tracking and prequalification systems such as ISN, Veriforce, ITS, or similar platforms
Experience supporting workers' compensation claims, audits, or regulatory reporting preferred
Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
Ability to work at a desk and computer for approximately 6–8 hours per day
Ability to perform effectively with frequent interruptions and shifting priorities
Ability to work under conditions of fluctuating workload and deadlines
Regular use of telephone, email, and virtual communication tools to communicate with vendors, customers, and coworkers
Occasional field or yard visits may be required based on operational needs

Preferred

Experience supporting workers' compensation claims, audits, or regulatory reporting preferred
