Responsibilities
Lead and oversee all estimating activities for geotechnical, deep foundation, ground improvement, and underground construction projects
Review drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents to define scope, risk, and pricing strategy
Develop detailed, accurate estimates using HCSS HeavyBid
Establish bid strategy, markups, contingencies, and pricing assumptions
Coordinate with operations, engineering, and project management to ensure constructability and execution alignment
Lead subcontractor and supplier outreach, bid leveling, and scope clarification
Maintain historical cost data, production rates, and estimating best practices
Mentor and develop junior estimators and preconstruction staff
Support value engineering, alternative means & methods, and schedule-driven pricing
Qualification
Required
10+ years of estimating experience within geotechnical, deep foundations, heavy civil, or specialty construction
Proficient with HCSS HeavyBid
Strong understanding in: Deep foundations (drilled shafts, piles, micropiles)
Strong understanding in: Earth retention systems (secant walls, soldier pile & lagging, tiebacks)
Strong understanding in: Ground improvement and complex subsurface work
Ability to manage multiple pursuits simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills with the ability to present to executive leadership and clients
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
