Responsibilities
Conduct discovery and assessment of existing mainframe workloads (COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, IMS, CICS)
Define modernization strategies: Rehost, Replatform, Refactor, Retire, Replace
Develop migration roadmaps, risk mitigation, and rollback plans
Design target-state architecture for rehosted applications on cloud or distributed platforms
Ensure compliance with security, performance, high availability, and disaster recovery requirements
Create detailed blueprints for migration patterns and integration with modern systems
Design ETL processes for migrating mainframe data Datacom to SQL Server
Ensure data integrity and minimal downtime during migration
Qualification
Required
Mainframe Expertise: COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, IMS, CICS
Cloud Expertise: GCP architecture, preferably with certifications
Modernization Tools: Raincode, AWS Mainframe Modernization
DevOps & IaC: Terraform, CloudFormation, Jenkins
Security & Compliance: IAM, VPC design, governance frameworks
Soft Skills: Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership
12+ years in IT, with at least 2–3 years as architect in mainframe modernization projects
