Responsibilities

Edits online articles and announcements and other related, informative marketing and promotional materials

Reads copy or proofs to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation and syntax

Allocates space for story text, photos and illustrations according to space parameters and copy significance using knowledge of layout principles

Verifies facts, dates and statistics using standard reference sources

Reviews and update web site with links to other organizations and external events

Merges content from a variety of sources to create unified, appropriate content for online upload

Re-edits to create text that meets the objectives of the organization's online presence

Interfaces daily with public information, IT programmers and graphics personnel to maintain standards when editing

Maintains a strong grasp of layout principals for web; ability to select, size, prep and create new images for web using Photoshop

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance

Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary

Bachelor's Degree

5-7 Years of relevant work experience

In-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline

Ability to edit online articles and announcements and other related, informative marketing and promotional materials

Ability to read copy or proofs to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation and syntax

Knowledge of layout principles to allocate space for story text, photos and illustrations

Ability to verify facts, dates and statistics using standard reference sources

Experience in reviewing and updating web site with links to other organizations and external events

Ability to merge content from a variety of sources to create unified, appropriate content for online upload

Ability to re-edit to create text that meets the objectives of the organization's online presence
